Actually, "Skilda Världar "was based on the Australian soap "Sons and Daughters" (1982-1987) as were the German adaption "Verbotene Liebe" (
Forbidden Love) (1995-2015) and the Croatian adaption "Zabranjena ljubav" (also means
Forbidden Love) (2004-2008). All three adaptions basically had the same set of characters and storylines in their first months as their scripts were based on the original show. There were of course some minor differences in each adaption.
There were also short-lived adaptions in Greece, Italy and Indonesia. The German version was the longest-running adaption but was eventually cancelled in 2015 only a few weeks after it had switched from daily to weekly airings.
