And to allow myself to be more easily manipulated into feeling whatever the film is trying to make me feel (it's really difficult to get emotional if one is eating). And because I find rustling and crunching - even my own - distracting when watching a film.I tend to save the rule for more serious or poignant films and shows. Or those which seem likely to benefit from getting the full attention.
